What are the Criteria?

Resources that are included in the SEED Center have been reviewed by the TAG and meet the following criteria:

  • Accessible and available for colleges to model and/or customize to their local labor markets
  • Not to be used as a means to market individual consultants or their products to AACC members
  • Promote colleges becoming generally more innovative

National Algae Association

The National Algae Association assists “algaepreneurs” in creating commercial-scale algae production plants in the US using American research and equipment. This site includes an Algae Production Certification Program that teaches all aspects of algae production which is a two-semester program implemented at the community college level.

National Biodiesel Board

The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) is the national trade association representing the biodiesel industry in the United States. The website provides information, fact sheets, guidelines, policy and other information that can be used in the teaching of this field.

National Center for Excellence in Advanced Automotive Manufacturing

A collaboration of community and technical colleges and industry partners who seek to better prepare highly skilled technicians and manufacturing engineers for work in automobile manufacturing and technology. AMTEC offers: Industry-endorsed maintenance certification assessments; Validated college curriculum aligned to industry-endorsed skills standards; Shared best practices and educational models among colleges and industry partners; and Flexible career pathways to fit the unique needs of students, employees, and employers.

National Gas Vehicle Institute (NGVi)

NGVi provides training and consulting on natural gas as a transportation fuel. NGVi provides curriculum and training in safety for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Vehicles, CNG Inspector Training, Fueling Station design, operation, and maintenance certifications, as well as other technical training. National Transportation & Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC)

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) is the nationwide alternative fuel vehicle and advanced technology vehicle training organization in the United States. It provides the training infrastructure for implementing widespread use of alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), and advanced technology vehicles.

Pew Center – Transportation Information

This useful site for educators that includes information on cutting edge research, policy, factsheets on a variety of technologies and fuels, and recommended resource links to government and business sites.

Presentation – Biofuels and the Energy-Water Nexus

In this data-loaded presentation, Ron Pate of Sandia National Laboratory looks at algae economics in the context of restrictions imposed on biofuels production by water supply sustainability concerns. This is an excellent overview of the state of aquifers and the water intensity of biofuels.
