Written by a group of young agricultural scientists, this report provides unique insight into modern goals for sustainable agricultural improvements. By specifying quantitative targets to clarify the scope of challenges that face agriculture today, they focuses on research and policy to ensure that sustainability efforts lead to measurable environmental improvements. Currently, the discourse on the future of agriculture is dominated by an imbalanced narrative that calls for food production to increase dramatically without specifying commensurate environmental goals. This report aims to re-balance this narrative by laying out quantitative and compelling mid-century targets for both production and the environment.
