The 2020 U.S. Energy and Employment Report

We are in the middle of a historic transition of the energy sector, and this report tracks changes in energy and energy-related employment during a time of continued change in the energy markets. This report is designed to help policy makers at all levels to understand the impact of the evolving energy markets and to help prepare their communities, infrastructure, and workforce.

There are great strides being made in the clean energy industries. While it’s true that solar energy saw a small decline in employment, the solar industry still employs vastly more people than either coal or natural gas. The report further shows that solar and wind construction are on the rise, and the wind energy and energy efficiency sectors, in particular, have seen increases in their workforce.
