An initiative of the National Council for Workforce Education, the Sustainability Education and Economic Development Center (SEED) supports community colleges and their partners with curriculum and resources to transform educational programs for a sustainable future.

The Lexicon of Sustainability

Instructors should utilize the Lexicon of Sustainability website when preparing coursework for nutrition and food-related studies. This enterprise is based on the premise that if people are better educated in the basic vocabulary and ideas that define the future economy, they will be better prepared to accept and utilize sustainable practices. Over two hundred leaders in food and farming across the nation have contributed information and their experiences to educate people on the importance of a safer, healthier food system in the United States and to take action in the creation of nation-wide sustainability in food and agriculture.
